Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Employment Readiness Program

The Employment Readiness Program is a series of workshops designed to teach students practical job readiness skills and skills for navigating the workplace with success. Students who attend the workshop series will have access to additional one-on-one peer support with an Employment Peer Coach who can help address career-related concerns. All students are invited to register and attend.

Self-reflection | Wednesday, May 29
This session will be focused on reflecting on personal values and how they relate to career choices and outlooks.

Networking | Wednesday, June 5
Students will learn how to network and perform informational interviews with an emphasis on practical application.

Speed networking | Wednesday, June 12
In this interactive session, students will get the chance to ask questions and connect with alumni and industry experts.

Interviewing | Wednesday, June 19
Students will learn valuable tricks on how to answer interview questions and how to perform before, during, and after an interview. 

Speed interviewing | Wednesday, June 26
Skills learned from the previous workshop will be used to practice interview questions in a round-robin format.
