Get involved on campus
Getting involved in the campus community and connecting with other students can help with the transition to life at Ontario Tech University. On this page, you will find information on groups that promote educational opportunities for refugees around the world and how you can join.
World University Services of Canada
World University Services of Canada (WUSC) at Ontario Tech is a student group that is dedicated to providing and improving education, employment, and empowerment opportunities for young refugees around the world.
Our aim is to:
- Advocate for social change through campaigns and events
- Raise awareness and educate the campus on global refugee issues
- Sponsor and support a WUSC student who newly immigrated to Canada through the Student Refugee Program
Student Refugee Program
Within WUSC, there is a youth-to-youth sponsorship program called Student Refugee Program (SRP) is the only one of its kind to combine resettlement with opportunities for higher education for young refugees.
We sponsor a student every other year from a refugee background to have the opportunity to study at Ontario Tech. You currently support a WUSC student financially through your ancillary fees. We couldn’t have made this happen without your support!
Learn about our WUSC alumnus:
- Honoline Francis (Kinesiology, class of 2019)
- Jean Bertrand Alestide Nsanzeryaka (Biological Sciences, class of 2016)
