Overview

If you're in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science or the Faculty of Science (studying Computer Science or Applied and Industrial Mathematics) and you're in your second year or above—you're invited to participate in our annual Reverse Career Fair! This is your opportunity to set up a display in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre gym so you can network with employers relevant to your field of study and future career sector. 

Benefits of attending
  • You'll connect with recruiters and hiring managers from a variety of companies to start building your own professional network. If you'd like to see which organizations and employers will be there, view the 2024 Reverse Career Fair Guidebook. 
  • You'll have the opportunity to set up a display in the gym at your assigned table.  Employers will be attending in person for the opportunity to network with you.  You are encouraged to create business cards to hand out to employers.
  • Please note: Only students that register and attend the event will be given access to upload their resumés for the participating employers. Attendees will be emailed a link where they can upload this information after the event. 

Frequently asked questions

  • How does the Reverse Career Fair work?
    As a student participant, you'll display projects or samples of work to showcase your skills and experiences. Employers will be circulating the room to visit you at your booth. They'll ask questions about you and your experience. Employers may even bring up potential job opportunities with their business or organization. Overall, this is an opportunity to showcase your talents and engage in interactive conversations with industry professionals.
  • Why should I attend?

    The Reverse Career Fair provides you with a platform to network with industry professionals, gain valuable insights and build connections to support career growth. It offers a unique opportunity to showcase your projects and skills directly to employers. Most importantly, attending the Reverse Career Fair can considerably boost your chances of securing a co-op, internship, or job opportunity.

  • Am I eligible to attend?

    Co-op and internship students within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and the Faculty of Science (Computer Science and Integrated Mathematics and Computer Science programs) will be allotted the morning session. The afternoon session will be dedicated to graduate and upcoming graduating students from the respective programs. Eligibility will be determined by your faculty upon registration.

  • What types of projects should I display at the Reverse Career Fair?
    You can display any project that you’ve worked on that showcases your skillset in your field. Whether it be a personal project, a business, or a school assignment, displaying anything that markets your employability can go a long way. If you do not have a physical project, you are encouraged to create business cards to network with employers or display your Linkedin profile.
  • Can I still participate if I don’t have a project to display?

    Yes, we encourage you to still attend if you're eligible! If you are unsure of what to display, you are advised to speak with your Co-op and Internship Officer or your Experiential Learning Officer to find creative ways to display your work.

  • What should I wear?

    You're encouraged to dress in business casual attire such as dress pants and blazers. Please wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing for the majority of the event.

  • How can I better prepare for the event?
    Career Centre is offering various workshops and appointments. It is recommended that you book an appointment with an employment advisor or attend a resumé/cover letter, networking, or Linkedin workshop by registering through the Portal.
  • Can you tell me more about the prep session?

    If you're participating in the Reverse Career Fair, we strongly encourage you to attend our Reverse Career Fair Prep Day.

  • Am I required to stay for the whole day?
    Depending on your eligiblity (determined upon registration) you will be placed in either the morning session or the afternoon session. We strongly recommend that you stay for the duration of your assigned time slot. If you have extenuating circumstances, such as a midterm or lab that cannot be rescheduled, please speak to your co-op officer to make accommodations.
  • How can I submit my resumé to an employer?
    You are encouraged to bring physical copies of your resumé should an employer request a copy at the event.
