About Us
Student Accessiblity Services welcomes all current undergraduate and graduate students at Ontario Tech with permanent, prolonged or persistent and temporary disabilities. We can also support students who are managing acute injuries related to athletics or accidents. This includes short or long term symptom managment of limb fractures, concussions, chronic pain or other medical issues. We look forward to connecting with you and providing support on your academic journey.

Confidentiality
In accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), we do not release any information about a student's record unless it has been authorized by the student.
Confidentiality is maintained at all times when students become involved with Student Accessibility Services (SAS). A student’s registration with SAS and the fact that they have received accommodations will not be identified on any official university records, test results, academic transcripts or graduation documentation.
All disability documentation provided to the office is digitized and is kept secure and strictly confidential on an encrypted server that the university maintains. Students' personal information is not shared with anyone without their prior informed and signed consent.
All students registered with SAS sign a consent form that indicates with whom SAS may discuss personal information.
For the student’s safety and privacy, SAS will only communicate with the student via email using the secure university student ID. We do not send messages to Hotmail, Gmail or other non-campus and non-secure emails.
Privacy Statement
Student Life offers academic accomomdations to students through Student Accessibility Services. A student's involvement with Student Accessibility Services and the fact that a student has received academic accomomdations does not appear on any official university records, test results, academic transcripts, or graduation documentation. All disability documentation provided to Student Accessibility Services is kept securely and strictly confidential. Student personal information is not shared with anyone outside of Student Accessibility Services without prior informed and signed consent of the student.

Can I change my mind about providing SAS with my consent?
Yes, you have the right to refuse or withdraw consent at any time. Please note that withdrawal of consent is not retroactive and may be subject to exceptions.

Does SAS share my information with external third parties?
Student Accessiblity Services will only share your information under exceptional circumstances, for example, when we are required by law, or in an emergency that could cause harm to yourself or others. Otherwise, we only share information with external third parties – including your family, guardians or support team not affiliated with Ontario Tech - with your written consent.

How does SAS store my information?
Student Accessiblity Services digitizes the files of all students who receive accommodations and stores them on an encrypted, secure server that is maintained by the university.

How long will SAS have my records?
Information collected by Student Accessibility Services will be used, disclosed, retained and destroyed in accordance with Ontario Tech University's Records Management Policy and the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Policy.
