Peer Wellness Campaigns

Throughout the academic year, the Peer Wellness Educators develop and deliver a variety of campaigns on health topics relevant to Ontario Tech students. You're invited to engage with our Peer Wellness Educators to learn more about these health topics, participate in activities, win prizes and get informed about the health and wellness resources available on and off campus.

You are no stranger to stress. Midterms, exams, assignments, and the added pressure of living on your own for the first time are all common stressors. At this booth, Peer Wellness Educators can help you identify your stressors and provide advice on how to bounce back.

Snacking for success

Nutrition plays an important role in your health. What you eat fuels your body and gives you the energy you need for those long lectures and study sessions! At this booth, Peer Wellness Educators provide guidance on the importance of making healthy snack choices and how to practice preparing balanced meals.

Let’s talk about safer sex

Learn more - Let’s talk about safer sex

Sexual health can be uncomfortable to talk about, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. The goal of this campaign is to teach you about safer sex practices. This information is important whether you are already sexually active or will become sexually active in the future. Peer Wellness Educators cover consent, STIs, methods of STI protection and provide examples of common types of contraception.

As you approach Ontario’s legal age for alcohol and cannabis use during your time at Ontario Tech, it’s important to understand how to navigate these substances responsibly. Party smart teaches you about standard drink sizes, Canada’s official drinking and cannabis use guidelines and provides tips on how to party responsibly.

Menstruation shouldn't be a taboo topicit's completely natural! This campaign supports the Ontario Tech Student Union’s (OTSU) Period Project. At Know the Flow, you are invited to learn about the importance of menstrual hygiene and the inequities in access to period products. Menstrual product donations are encouraged at this booth, as they will go to students who need free access to products through the OTSU’s Period Bank.

Staying active is vital for overall well-being, yet it can feel intimidating, especially for those just starting their fitness journey. This campaign invites all students—regardless of fitness level—to share their favourite ways to get moving. By highlighting Canada’s physical activity guidelines, the benefits of an active lifestyle and tips for how to get active, we aim to create an inclusive community that celebrates every step taken. At the booth, you're are invited to share your favourite ways to get active and participate in some physical activity challenges!
