Better Together Series

Ontario Tech University and Durham College are partnering to run a regular workshop series called Better Together.

Join us for programming designed to support your wellness journey here at school. You’ll connect with fellow students through a range of creative workshops that revolve around exploring your identity, interests and building meaningful relationships with your peers.

Our Better Together workshops combine hands-on activities with mental health education, empowering you to grow socially, build resilience and prioritize your health and wellness. We hope to help you stay well during your time at school, and provide an opportunity to learn skills that will last a lifetime.

Ontario Tech has partnered with the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences since 2020 to bring the Recovery College model of student-driven mental health support to our students. Recovery College courses are co-designed and co-facilitated by Ontario Tech students.  These courses provide education about mental health and wellness and empower students to discover or rediscover connection, passion, hope and meaning.

Co-Design

Use your student voice to shape the culture of peer-lead mental health and wellness programming at Ontario Tech!

If you’re passionate about student well-being, this is the group for you. With the support of Ontario Shores’ mental health professionals, you and fellow students will collaborate to develop Recovery College courses and will contribute to recreating and redefining the Recovery College program on campus.

The courses you create will provide students with opportunities to connect and develop mental health and wellness education that can be used to navigate the post-secondary journey. Additionally, your participation can be added to your Student Experience Record! As students, you know your needs best, and we’re excited to learn and create with you!

What will we do?

  • Contribute to creating a positive and resilient culture on campus by helping to decide course topics, content, promotion and engagement strategies for students.

What will we learn?

  • Co-Design principles and the Recovery College process.
  • How to work as a member of a team to design and co-create relevant and impactful mental health-related courses.
  • How to leverage your experiences navigating wellness as a post-secondary student as a source of strength and value to programming at our Recovery College.

What’s the commitment?
Wednesdays at 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. from October 9 to November 13 | Fireside Reading Room (LIB 200)

  • For six weeks, participants of Co-Design are asked to attend one-hour weekly sessions. Snacks will be provided each week!
