Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Automated Test Centre email notification

Automated Test Centre email notification

Automated Test Centre email notification:

The instructor on file will receive an email seven working days prior and again three working days prior to the scheduled assessment date. This will include accommodated time calculations and who these students are. If you do not see a student listed in the notification email, they may have chosen to forgo their testing accommodations.

Please note: The test/quiz duration is added by the student only; TCIS has no access to your Canvas and does not know the
duration of assessments. TCIS depends on faculty to review the email notification and make appropriate changes to duration if they are incorrectly scheduled by the student. Please ensure you contact the Test Centre with this information, so we can update the student listing in your SAS Instructor Portal

Contact the Test Centre if you notice any issues.

  • What is the university's Final Exam Policy?
  • When will student(s) write their accommodated assessment?
    • Most accommodated assessments are scheduled on the same date—and at the same time—as the rest of the class. However, this may change based on the student's individual accommodation needs (e.g. spacing out time between assessments).

    • The Test Centre will reschedule an accommodated assessment if necessary to meet the requirements of the student's accommodation plan. In that case, you will be contacted and made aware of the time change; further co-ordination may be required.

  • Where can I pick up my student's assessment(s)?

Typically, you will pick up completed assessments from the Test Centre:

    • North Oshawa campus location: Shawenjigewining Hall, Room 343
    • Downtown Oshawa campus location: Charles Hall, Room 236

However, the Test Centre is not a 24-hour service. If there's no testing going on that day, it will be closed. In this situation, please visit the main office at either Shawenjigewining Hall, Room 341 or Charles Hall, Room 229. Alternatively, you can contact us at exams@ontariotechu.ca to arrange a pick-up time.

Please note: The Test Centre's main office is closed daily from noon to 1 p.m.

  • Where will my student(s) write their accommodated assessment(s)?
    North Oshawa campus location courses:
    • Shawenjigewining Hall, Room 343A

Please note: Additional on-campus accommodated assessment locations may be used during the final assessment periods, which are usually the classrooms on the same floor as the Test Centre.

    Downtown Oshawa campus location courses:
    • Charles Hall, Room 236
  • Who will invigilate my students' accommodated assessment(s) at the Test Centre?

Invigilators are hired and supervised by Test Centre and Integrated Services staff, and they are specifically trained to support accommodations. Directions for invigilators are based on the details provided on the Invigilator cover sheet.

Invigilators are not other undergraduate students.
